About

joes.jpgI was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1984 I joined the Marine Corps and was stationed in Yuma, usmc.PNGArizona at MCSA-Yuma. Then, after returning to the state from a one year tour to Okinawa Japan in 1988, I decided to discharge from the Corps and return to Yuma. Yuma is a nice place and my wife, Melinda, and I wanted to raise our three children there.

For about 10 years after my honorable discharge, I remained doing what I was trained to do as a Marine, work on heavy equipment. I worked for contractors Dynamic Science, Pan America and ECIII as a heavy mechanic supporting trucks, aerostat.jpg tanks and surveillance equipment (Aerostat Balloon).

In 1997, after years of very heavy, dirty and greasy work, I began taking evening classes at Arizona Western College and working towards a degree in Computer Information Systems, which I m1.PNGcompleted in 2005 (that's right, 8 years of evening classes).

From 1997 until 2003, I worked for Northrop Grumman as a desktop support technician, help desk technician and desktop support supervisor. During this time I started a part-time business as an IT consultant, which would eventually become a full-time business venture, Yuma Computers Services, Inc.

ycslogo.PNGOn January 1, 2004, I risked it all and resigned from Northrop Grumman to begin managing Yuma Computer Services full-time. Single-handed, I supported 70 business clients which, included: lawyers, medical doctors, accountants, veterinarians, factories, auto dealerships and numerous other small businesses. This was a wonderful time for me, and I became close business associates with Wayne Benesch, Pamela Walsma, Roger Nutt, Tom Pancrazi, Stephen Shaddle, Mike and Lisa-Marie Catron, Alicia Aguirre, Arthuro Villarreal, Harry Longbottom and many more of Yuma's finest business owners. I was also a member of the Yuma Small Business Association and Yuma Chamber of Commerce.awclogo.gif

Then after more than 20 years of living in Yuma, Arizona, my wife and I felt the need to close our business and move back to Phoenix to be closer to our families. So in June 2005, we relocated to Litchfield Park, Arizona where we bought a beautiful home in Old Litchfield Park.

header_asulogo.gifI've had the privilege of working as a full-time server administrator for Arizona State University where I managed a large enterprise VMware Virtual Infrastructure. Currently, I am an IT Consultant for Capgemini where I support a Honeywell company named United Oil Products. I'm their remote lead VMware System Administrator.

Someday I hope to find the ideal career position that will balance commute, pay, challenge, a super team of co-workers and a great employer. I still find myself wanting to make decisive decisions outside the box, which has been my biggest regret for closing my business.

My background and experience as an IT professional are better fit for organizations who are able to change CCNA.gifand adjust to better MCSA(rgb).gifmethods and new ideas quicker. I have the ability to evaluate an IT environment and see things that can be streamlined and made more efficient. I have more than 11 years of systems and network experience as well as A+, MCSA, and CCNA certifications to support my knowledge and six years of experience as a business manager. Most recently I also became a VMware Certified Processional (VCP) and have enterprise experience designing and configuring Virtual Infrastructures. On the personal side, my hobbies and interests are reading, blogging, playing with my children, swimming, gardening and learning the guitar. I also like taking training courses that will help me stay up with current technology trends and I live in the West Valley City of Litchfield Park.
